“You know that feeling you get when you look into the backyard mid-September, your skin is still warm from being in the heat all day, the sun is setting so you can feel the cool crisp air, and then you finally & suddenly see all the fireflies are out?”⁣ ✨ This is how Brianna described how she and Ronnie imagined their wedding when they emailed me back in March. And honestly, that’s exactly how it felt (and not only because that’s literallyyyy how the weather was). Bri’s mom Diane did an incredible job making their dinner feel like a total secret garden with sunflowers and details.

These two absolutely radiate with love for each other and hospitality and warmth for all of the people around them. Every step of their wedding, I felt safe and like I was part of their family. I began photographing with Ronnie at his and Bri’s new home, and then headed over to the house that Bri grew up in for her getting ready photos and the remainder of the day. Everyone is doing microweddings and elopements differently these days, and I love seeing all of the creative ways folks are keeping their friends and families safe while still celebrating this milestone.

When guests entered, they received a small bag filled with a mini champagne bottle, champagne glass, and a program. The ceremony was held on the back patio, elevated from where guests were seated distanced, and with their households. After a beautiful and super emotional ceremony with lots of happy tears and celebratory dancing, they dove right into their first dance, parent dances, and toasts. Following toasts was a socially distanced (and masked!) receiving line, where everyone was given a to-go box of appetizers and desserts to share at home. Immediate family enjoyed a seated meal together with cake cutting and yard games.

I don’t typically share this many photos, but I think it’s important to show how you can be creative and still have a safe, romantic and super special wedding day.
